Keswick Mountain Festival May 14-17

The Keswick Mountain Festival is back again this May, and it promises to be bigger and better than ever. The 2014 festival will be centred around the Festival Village and Theatre by the Lake on the shores of Derwentwater, and will offer a mixture of sporting events and challenges, family fun, live music and much more.

The action kicks off on Wednesday 14th May, with an evening fell race from Keswick to the top of nearby Latrigg. The record time is only 16.37 minutes, so if you’re feeling competitive, give it a go! The following four days see a packed programme of events so if you like walking, climbing, mountain biking, canoeing, sailing or even triathlon, there’s something to do.

For the less active, or if you need a rest, how about visiting the Theatre by the Lake to hear Sir Ranulph Fiennes talk about his life and career, or top athletes Rob Hayles (Olympic cycling medallist), Keri-Anne Payne (world champion and Olympic medallist open water swimmer) and Chrissie Wellington (world champion ironman triathlete) talking about their achievements? As ambassadors for the theatre, we may be able to offer a small discount on ticket prices.

Evenings see a programme of live entertainment in the Festival Village, kicking off on Friday 16th with some 21st century Scottish folk music from the Peatbog Faeries, and followed by Irish folk rockers Hothouse Flowers and actor/comedian turned musician Adrian Edmonson with his band the Bad Shepherds playing folk punk! Saturday 17th sees popular folk pop band Stornoway followed by headline act The Feeling playing their chart hits. To see the full programme of events have a look at the festival website here.

We have double, twin and a triple rooms available for the duration of the festival, and based here at Grassmoor you would never be more than a short walk from the action. Contact us soon to book your stay  – this one could get busy! (Minimum stay 2 nights)
